Kaltura - Captioning Basics

Overview

Kaltura allows you to order captions for any audio or video file you upload to your My Media gallery. The captioning is performed by machine, so it is important to review the captions for accuracy.

Order Captions

To order captions for your video:

  1. Click on the My Media tab in Blackboard.
  2. Click on the video you want to caption.
  3. Below the video, click the Actions button and select Caption & Enrich.
  4. On the next page, scroll down to the drop down menus labelled Service, Source Media Language, and Feature. Choose the source language and click Submit.
  5. Once ordered, you will see a list of all captioning requests made for this video along with a status. (Pending, In Process, or Completed).

Depending on the length of the video, it may take some time for the captions to be processed. You will receive an email once the captions are ready.
