Export and Import Tests

Blackboard provides an option to export tests as a .zip package to make it easier to archive a test. The .zip package can then be easily imported into other Blackboard courses.

Exporting a Test

To export a Test:
  1. Click the Course Tools link of the Control Panel.
  2. Click Tests, Surveys, and Pools on the expanded menu.
  3. Select the appropriate item. For example, select the Tests page to see a list of all tests currently available within your Blackboard course.
  4. Click the Options button to the right of the test you would like to export, then select Export to Local Computer on the drop-menu.
  5. Click OK in the pop-up window to save the file to your hard disk or flash drive for local storage.
Note: Tests exported from Blackboard are saved in a compressed folder that can be imported and unpackaged into courses in the Blackboard learning management system. They cannot be modified outside of Blackboard.

Importing a Test

Instructors can import previously exported tests, surveys, and pools. This is an effective way to share them with other instructors or to copy single tests between courses.

To import a test:
  1. Click the Course Tools link of the Control Panel.
  2. Click Tests, Surveys, and Pools on the expanded menu.
  3. Select the appropriate manager. For this example, we will select the Tests page.
  4. Click the Import Test button on the Tests page.
  5. Click the Browse my Computer button to search for and select the test zip file stored on your computer, disc, or thumb drive. To upload a test zip file from your content collection folder, click Browse Content Collection.
  6. Search for and attach the test package file previously exported by Blackboard. Once attached, click the Submit button to import the test. The imported test will now be listed in the test manager.
