Successful online learners are independent, self-motivated and disciplined. Is this you?
If you're unsure, take
this short, interactive quiz designed by the Michigan Community College Virtual Learning Collaborative.
It will help you decide if online learning is a good option for you.
- You'll need to learn how to use the Blackboard course system. This is the tool UM-Flint uses
to deliver courses and supplements online. To make it as easy as possible for you, we've
created an online orientation course, which will be automatically available to you when you
login to Blackboard. You'll see it under "My Courses."
Take an hour or two to walk through this tutorial so you'll know how to
effectively participate, learn, and contribute in your online course. There are no grades,
no tracking of what you do in this "course."
- About two weeks prior to the start of class, we will send you a CD with tips and free software downloads, and the UM-Flint online orientation schedule. If you've never taken an online course or used Blackboard before, we encourage you to attend one of our free orientation courses offered at the beginning of each semester. Free sessions are offered in the evening, weekend, or daytime. Register online.
