Glossary Manager

This guide will walk you through the process of using the Glossary Manager within Blackboard. Students can access the Glossary under the Tools button, which you can use to give definitions to terms or phrases that pertain to your course.

Adding Terms to the Glossary:

Step 1: Click on the Control Panel link.

Step 2: Click on Glossary Manager.

Step 3: There are 2 methods to adding a term to the Glossary. The first method is to directly input it. The second method is to upload a glossary into Blackboard.

Direct Method:

Step 1: Click on the Add Term button.

Step 2: Write in your item and a description and then hit the Submit button.

Step 3: A receipt for the addition will appear. Click the button to return to the Glossary page or click Add Another Term to add more terms.

Upload from a file:

Step 1: Click on the Upload Glossary button.

Step 2: Blackboard will explain the formats acceptable for the terms and definitions to be placed in the text file so Blackboard can understand them.

Step 3: Set whether or not you want all terms that already exist in Blackboard to be deleted and replaced by the input file, if you want to add the terms in the file to the existing glossary.

Step 4: A receipt for the addition will appear. Click the button to return to the Glossary page.

Downloading Terms from the Glossary:

Step 1: Click on the Control Panel button from the Course Menu.

Step 2: Click on Glossary Manager .

Step 3: Click on the Download Glossary button.

Step 4 : Click Download to download the glossary. Click on the Return button to go back to the Glossary page.
