Creating a Thread in a Discussion Board Forum:

This guide will walk you through the process of creating a new thread in a forum in your Blackboard course. When a discussion is created within a forum it is called a thread.

**Note: In order to create a new thread in a forum, you must have already created a discussion board forum. To view helpful hints on how to create a discussion board forum, click here.

Step 1:  Click on the Control Panel link and click on Discussion Boards.

Step 2: Click on the name of the forum that you would like to add a thread to. For this example, we will add a thread to the “forum” forum.

Step 3:Click on the Add New Thread button.  This will open the Create Thread window.

Step 4: Enter the Subject of the new thread in the subject text box. Then, enter the Message that you would like to be displayed in the message text box, which is located directly below the subject text box.  You can also add an attachment by clicking Browse.

Step 5:  Hit the Submit button to add your new thread.

Step 6: Click on the  button to close the Forum page.  Click on the  button to close the Discussion Board page and to complete the process of adding the new thread.
