Changing the language or Locale for a course

In order to support cross-border education and foreign language courses, Instructors can set the language of a course independently from the language setting of the overall system giving students an emersion. Languages to choose from are: Spanish, French, Italian, German, Dutch and Portuguese.

Students may also change their personal language locale to view their courses; however, an instructor’s course setting will override the student’s personal changes.

Keep in mind that changing the language setting will only change system text such as buttons and headings. Any content you add to the system will need to be written in the appropriate language for viewing.

To change the language or locale for your course:

  1. From the Control Panel, select: Course Options > Settings
  2. Click Set Locale
  3. Select the language of choice from the drop-down list.
  4. To override the user’s personal locale settings, put a check in the checkbox next to Enforce Locale.
  5. Click Submit.
