Question type: Fill in Multiple Blanks
Fill in Multiple Blanks works like the fill-the-blank question type but allows for up to 10 blanks inserted into a sentence or paragraph. Separate sets of answers are created for each blank, and partial credit can be given for this question type.
- To add a question with multiple blanks, select Fill in Multiple Blanks from the question type drop-down menu, and click Go.
- Enter question text that includes includes up to 10 variables in square brackets [x] corresponding to locations in the text where the fill in the blank fields should appear. Variables must be unique and cannot be reused. Examples of variables would be [blank1], [x], [author]. You should not use spaces in the variable names.
- If you want Blackboard to score partial credit, put a check in the Allow Partial Credit checkbox. This will give a fraction of the total points for partially correct answers.
- Click Next after completing the fields on this page to specify answers.
- Enter one or more correct answers for each variable in the question.
- Click Next.
- Complete the question by adding optional feedback, categories or keywords.
- Click Submit to add the question to the canvas.
