Calculated Formula allows you to create a formula for students to solve and Blackboard will supply each student with a different numerical value from a range of variables set when the question is created. The variable range is created by specifying a minimum and maximum value for each variable. Answer sets are randomly generated. The correct answer can be a specific value or a range of values, and partial credit can be granted for answers falling in a predetermined range.

The Calculated Numeric question type resembles a fill-in-the-blank question. Users enter a number to complete a statement, and the correct answer can be a specific number or within a range of numbers.

File Response allows users to upload a file from their local drive as the answer to the question. This question type much be graded manually.

Fill in Multiple Blanks works like the fill-the-blank question type but allows for up to 10 blanks inserted into a sentence or paragraph. Separate sets of answers are created for each blank, and partial credit can be given for this question type.

Hot Spot questions require users to designate a location on an image to answer the question.

Jumbled sentence allows users to select an answer from a drop-down list of choices. The question text can include several variables, and partial credit can be given.

Opinion Scale/Likert questions ask you to read a statement and then specify a level of agreement, frequency, importance, likelihood and so on. This question type is most frequently used in a survey situation.

Quiz Bowl questions require the answer to be in the form of a question. One or more interrogatives and one or more phrases can be specified that must be included in the answer.
