Adding a Test

This guide will walk you through the process of adding a test into a Content Area of your Blackboard course.

Step 1: Click on the Control Panel link and choose the Content Area that you would like to add the test in. If you wish to place the test in a subfolder, then navigate to that folder.

Step 2: Click on the Add Test button shown on the far right in the image below.

Step 3: When you see this screen you will have two options. The first is to create a new test. If you would like to see instructions on how to create a test, please click here. The second option is that you may select a test that you have previously created.

Step 4: Click on the Submit button to Add your item. You will receive a confirmation receipt. Click the button to close the window.

Modifying a Deployed Test:

Step 1: After a test has been added and deployed, you can change the test options. Click the Modify button to the right of the test you wish to modify.

Step 2: Click on Modify the Test Options.

Step 3: Under the first heading, you can choose to change the name and description of the test.

Step 4: The second heading involves Test Availability. Here you can set whether the test is currently available and what dates the test should be available for; whether you wish to force completion or allow multiple attempts, as well as setting a timer for the test. Also, a password can be included to access the test. The password field is used when you are using the Secureexam Browser.

Step 5: The Test Feedback section is where you can set what the student will see when he/she is finished taking the exam. The choices are: Score Only; Detailed Results; Show Correct Answers; and Detailed Results, Correct Answers, and Feedback.

Step 6: The fourth section allows you to decide whether to display all questions at once or one question at a time. If you choose to display only one question at a time, you can also choose to prohibit backtracking. Furthermore, you can choose to randomize the questions, so that each student will receive the questions in a different order from the others in the class.

Step 7: Click the Submit button to save any changes.
