| To attend UM-Flint Online, you will need a few essential items. We have provided information about computer requirements, Internet access, email accounts, browser compatibility, and AOL subscribers. |
Computer Requirements: To take full advantage of the interactivity of the courses, the following minimum system profiles are REQUIRED:

Internet Service Provider (ISP): An ISP is a company that can provide you with the software necessary for going onto the Internet. You will need Internet access to take your courses. If you do not already have an ISP, UM-Flint offers you Internet access through Merit Network. Merit Network, Inc. provides local dial-in numbers from many points across Michigan. To obtain your local dial-up number, consult the MichNet Shared Dial-In Numbers. If you need assistance setting up your MichNet Internet access from home, contact the ITS helpdesk at (810) 766-6804. |
Email account: If you do not have an active email account, you can create your computer account online using the Student Information Services (SIS). All you need to do is login to SIS, click on the Students Services & Financial Aid menu, click the Campus Computing Menu, click the link to Create Your Student Computer Account, then enter the proper data and your account will be created. For assistance in creating your computer account, contact the HelpDesk. ITS provides Quicknotes that detail instructions for accessing the Internet and email on your home computer. Browser compatibility: You will need a Java-capable Web browser. Our courses are best viewed using a Microsoft ® Internet Explorer browser, version 5.0 or higher. Downloads for the newest browser versions are free of charge. To upgrade your browser to the latest version, please visit Microsoft . Wondering if your current browser meets the specs?
